I have been researching early Michigan aviation history for more than 30 years, in anticipation of publishing my first book, A Half Pound of Ether and Five Gallons of Gas, which will be out this summer. I have a question for you Buick experts. The first plane in Flint (Michigan) was the Flint Flyer, powered by a 4-cylinder Buick Model 17 engine. Walter Marr had a hand in the development of this engine, and he may have patented ideas on controls for this plane. Does anyone have any information on this subject?
